Ten members; five recurves (1 Lady, 1 Junior, 3 Gentlemen) and five Gentlemen longbows met at Aldhurst Farm, Capel, for the annual Clout Shoot on the 9th of October 2011. Some were shooting this round for the first time, including the Trophy winner.

After overnight rain and a hazy start a warm, even hot, sun appeared which conspired with gusts of wind to see many arrows just outside the scoring circle towards the end of an as ever enjoyable shoot.

NB While scores announced on the field used GNAS Clout scoring, those below have been converted to the Club’s traditional target shooting scores – higher scores but no change to positions!

The results are as follows:

1st Murray Hume (Recurve), and the Clout Trophy Winner scoring 13 hits - 44 points - 1 gold

2nd John Croft (Longbow)  scoring 13 – 44 – 1

3rd Richard Sawle (Longbow)  scoring 9 – 36 – 1…the only clout!

…and the above were followed in score order with the only tie having to be shown in alphabetic order, by : -
Reuben Scarsbrook (u/18 Recurve) scoring 3 – 18 – 0
John Longden (Recurve) scoring 3 – 17 – 1
Trefor Hall (Longbow) scoring 5 – 9 – 0
Renny Woodbridge (Longbow) 2 – 8 – 0
David Armitage (Longbow) 1 – 3 – 0
Marilyn Jones (Recurve) 1 – 3 – 0
David Atkinson (Longbow) failed to score despite valiant effort and near misses.
