Here’s all the handouts are from previous workshops our Level 2 coaches (Bea & Andy) have run over the years. We hope you find them useful!
Handicaps and Classifications:
When Archery GB changed the handicap and classification system (2023), Bea held a workshop for members clarifying the changes between the old and new system. Bea has since updated the presentation to help current archers understand the AGB Handicap and Classification system.
You can download the PDF format or original Powerpoint
String Making:
In 2017, Bea held a workshop demonstrating how to make strings. Andy filmed the process of string making, but the angle this was filmed from wasn’t ideal. However, both Andy and Bea created a handout to help archers identify the best materials to use when making strings and nocking points. You can download this here.
Bow Tuning:
Andy held a bow tuning workshop in 2017 to help archers understand the importance of tuning their arrows to match their bow. Andy also created a presentation for this as part of a County Coach course. There is a handout (presentation slides with notes) and the presentation itself available to download.
Being the less techy coach, Bea created a handout of the basics of bow tuning to help the folk who want to avoid the techno jargon! You can download this here.
Mindsets in Archery:
A common occurrence in archery is the issue of the “mental game”. Target panic, intrusive thoughts, and mindset all play an important part in helping an archer shoot well. During her time in university (2015-2017), Bea worked with some of professors at The University of Sheffield to create this presentation about creating an open mindset to shooting well. You can view this here.
Stabilisation:
Not to do with whether you’re able to stand on one leg or not! Andy and Bea held a stabiliser swap shop to give archers the opportunity to try out different kinds of stabilisation set ups. This handout explains everything to look out for.
Stretch Band & Bow Training:
As coaches, we’re often asked about what training archers can do when they’re off the bow to help reinforce technique. Andy and Bea have put together this handout with some basic stretch band and bow training exercises to help!
Strength and Conditioning:
S&C is something that caters more to those looking for performance coaching. Having spent her teenage years following an intense training programme, and researching the best exercises to strengthen the muscles needed in archery, Bea has created these handouts based on the areas of focus.
Please note, the repetitions and sets suggested are mere suggestions, and these should be altered to suit an individuals level of fitness. If you would like to discuss strength and conditioning further with regard to any of the exercises or your archery specifically, please speak to Bea who will be able to advise.
General S&C exercises, Hips and Legs exercises, Abdominals/Core exercises, and Arms & Shoulder exercises.
